Transition Pieces – Layering is the New Wool Sweater

As we move into fall and the temperature shifts we pull out our winter wardrobes and reluctantly say farewell to our summer favs until next season. But wait, don’t put away all of your favorites just yet! There is a trick to keeping warm in this Canadian climate and one of those hidden secrets is layering. Taking those lightweight wonders we love so much and wearing them under our outfits to keep us cozy throughout the day.

In the Duffield Design Collection this fall there are a couple of great essentials that we encourage you to wear as transition pieces from those warmer days of fall throughout the coldest days of winter.

The classic Leggings in our Bamboo Cotton Jersey option is just one of those pieces. Lightweight, breathable and super soft, it’s the perfect piece for fall worn with a dress and a great boot. In the winter wear this versatile piece under your pants as a way to keep warm, think of them as your new and stylish winter Long Jains (The women’s version of the men’s Long Johns).

Our Fitted Tank Top is another great example. This piece is easily worn solo paired with a great pant or skirt, also try layering it under your Long Sleeve Top or Roo Sweater. For those who really feel the chill in the winter months, try the Fitted Tank in the Merino Wool option for added warmth. Merino Wool is an excellent insulating fabric, it’s also super lightweight, quick dying, breathable and has anti-bacterial properties which means it can be worn more frequently then the average fabric before needing to being washed.

For those colder days start by layering up with the Fitted Tank Top and Leggings, then slip on the Peace Top and a nice Pant with a cozy sweater or jacket to finish. For work I like the Kanga Jacket this season. Have fun layering and playing with your pieces, it’s all about optimal wear and feeling great in your Duffield Design’s, not to mention staying warm!
